Citrix “Project Encore” Partnership Announcement with Microsoft

Citrix has a proven track record of partnering with Microsoft to add value on top of the Windows Server platform, primarily focused on application and desktop computing. Citrix and Microsoft are now unveiling “Project Encore”, the next big chapter in our relationship, extending our alliance into the world of server virtualization.
Both companies believe there is a long-term opportunity for Citrix to sell advanced virtualization management technologies on top of the Windows Server Hyper-V platform. We believe this opportunity is similar to the $1 billion 20-year success we’ve had selling Citrix XenApp on top of the Windows Server Terminal Services platform.
As part of Project Encore, Microsoft will recommend Citrix Essentials for Microsoft Hyper-V as an important add-on to any Microsoft virtualization deployment. They will work with us to train Microsoft field and channel partners on this message and conduct extensive joint go-to-market programs with us.
Microsoft also recognizes that Citrix XenServer plays an important role in the market, especially in mixed Windows-Linux, high-performance and cloud environments.
Microsoft is also announcing that they will add support for XenServer to Microsoft System Center for customers with mixed Hyper-V and XenServer environments
